Schooling at Blyth Academy has four divisions

Our educational journey is thoughtfully divided into four distinct divisions, each tailored to meet the developmental needs of students at every stage. From nurturing young learners to preparing future-ready graduates, our divisions ensure a seamless and enriching academic experience.

  • This includes Division 1 (Kindergarten to Grade 2) and Division 2 (Grade 3 – Grade 6).
  • The curriculum at this stage largely focuses on developing the foundations in core subjects of English, Math, Science and Social Studies.
  • In these formative years, there is also a focus for students to

     – Develop necessary fine motor skills and gross motor skills through Art and P.E.

     – Develop soft skills of establishing routines and structure.

     – Develop social and collaborative skills along with self-regulation.

  • This includes Division 3 (Grade 7- Grade 9).
  • At this stage, the foundational skills acquired in Elementary are furthered with specific curriculum requirements to proceed on to high school.
  • This stage culminates in the Grade 9s taking the Alberta mandated Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT) at the end of the year.
  • This includes Division 4 (Grade 10 – Grade 12)
  • While Elementary and Junior High schoolings are full year programs, Senior High schooling runs on a semester basis as Term 1 and Term 2.
  • Senior High classes have specific courses with course numbers and prerequisites that students can choose each term, starting from Grade 10 onwards, depending on the professional career route they want to pursue. This system gives valuable experience to prepare students in understanding how post-highschool university programs run.
  • Apart from core subjects English, Math and Social Studies, students have a diverse course selection to choose from which includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Math and several elective courses such as Business, Leadership, Art, Sports Performance, Computer Science and etc.
  • Each term culminates in students taking the Alberta regulated final diploma exams.

Being recognized as the best curriculum in Canada, students graduating with a highschool diploma from Blyth Academy stand a higher chance of achieving admissions in Canadian universities, as well as several renowned universities worldwide.
