Sam Blyth

Sam founded Blyth Academy in 1977 and built it into Canada’s largest private school organization. Educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge (MA) he has worked in Qatar for more than a decade and took over the management of Blyth Qatar in October 2024.

He is a Trustee of the National Museum of Natural History, The Smithsonian Institution, an Honorary Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, the Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Canada and a former Trustee of the Lester Pearson College, a United World College.

Derek Begley is an experienced educator with decades of experience helping students reach their full potential. Educated in Canada, he has taught in Japan, Australia, the Cree Nation of Eastmain in Quebec, and various international schools. He has served on the Board of Governors for multiple top private schools, contributing to academic leadership and policy development. At Blyth Academy Qatar, he is committed to delivering high-quality education and fostering an environment that supports both academic excellence and personal growth.

Simia Khan brings over 10 years of experience in teaching and administration. Originally from Bangladesh but raised in Kuwait, she earned a Finance degree from Louisiana State University, USA, before pursuing a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. With a strong commitment to student and staff well-being, she ensures smooth curriculum operations and an effective academic environment. Dedicated to student success, she strives to create a nurturing space where children are encouraged to grow both academically and personally.

Bruce Henderson is the Elementary Lead at Blyth Academy Qatar, with 20 years of experience in education. Originally from South Africa, he has lived in Qatar since 2018 with his wife and daughter. He is passionate about fostering curiosity and a love for learning. Dedicated to creating a nurturing environment, he helps students develop into lifelong learners. Outside of education, he enjoys fishing, sports, history, and traveling, often returning to his home country. His commitment to student well-being is reflected in the academy’s supportive atmosphere.

Beena Diwakar brings over 14 years of experience in finance and human resources. She has worked with prestigious auditing firms and banks in India and the UAE, developing expertise in financial management and operational efficiency. At Blyth Academy Qatar, she oversees Finance and HR, ensuring financial stability and a positive work environment. Committed to smooth operations, she plays a key role in supporting both staff and students while contributing to the academy’s ongoing growth.

Wissem Dib has over 18 years of experience in administration and 12 years in education. For more than nine years, she has led the Admissions team at Blyth Academy Qatar, playing a key role in student recruitment and administrative management. Holding a bachelor's degree in law and administration, she ensures smooth school operations while fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. Dedicated to student success, she works to provide families with the support they need throughout their educational journey.
